An otoscope is a medical instrument used to examine the ear canal and tympanic membrane (eardrum).
It typically consists of a handle with a light source and a magnifying lens, as well as a disposable speculum (a cone-shaped insert) that fits into the ear canal.
The otoscope allows the user to visualize the inside of the ear, which can be helpful in identifying ear infections, foreign objects, or other ear-related issues. Some otoscopes also have a pneumatic attachment that can be used to test the function of the eardrum.
